Many North Dakota title agencies began as the county abstract company, and in much of the state the abstract of title is still continued on every sale with the policy issued from the examination of it. Attorneys still write opinions. A website that pretends the state runs on commitments and closings alone, like a Sun Belt escrow shop, misreads the market it is selling to.

The examiner needs to know at the start. So does the buyer, who may not realize they are buying surface only.

North Dakota title website questions
Does North Dakota have a transfer tax?
